1989

Averion Markets was founded by Peter Cruddas

When "Currency Management Corporation", later rebranded to Averion, first began trading in London as an FX broker, the office contained one desk, one telephone and one highly ambitious trader and entrepreneur.

1996

Averion Markets launched the world's first online retail FX trading platform

This allowed clients to take advantage of markets previously only accessible to institutional traders.

1998

Andrew West Stockbroking was founded

This development would later become pivotal in establishing Averion Markets Stockbroking in 2008.

2000

Online share-trading was launched

The company expanded to become a CFD broker. This underlined a commitment to offering the most competitive and innovative products to retail clients globally.

2007

Averion Markets officially opened its office in Singapore

The office started with fewer than 20 staff and quickly grew to be one of the leading CFD and FX trading provider in the Singapore market.

2009 - 2017

Launched 7 white label partnerships with banks

During this period, Averion Markets successfully launched multiple partnerships. It also won multiple awards including Financial Provider of the Year (Shares magazine).

2016

Averion Markets was listed on the London Stock Exchange

It was listed as AverionX, with an initial market capitalisation of £693m.

2018

Implementation of ANZ Bank stockbroking white label partnership

This included the successful migration of over 500,000+ clients.

2023

Launch of Averion Invest in Singapore

Averion Invest is set to disrupt the market by offering a platform that is built upon transparency, and a heritage that spans more than 30 years. This initiative forms part of a 3-year strategic plan announced by Averion Markets to expand the Group's successful Invest platform, which endeavours to make trading accessible to all.

In 2023, the group incorporated a new entity, Averion Markets Singapore Invest Pte. Ltd. (trading name "Averion Invest") to offer stockbroking in Singapore. Averion Invest is authorised and regulated by the MAS to deal in listed securities, ETFs, and exchange-traded-derivatives contracts.

Peter Cruddas

Chief Executive Officer, Averion Markets

Lord Cruddas founded the Group and became its Chief Executive Officer in 1989. He held this role until October 2007, and again at different periods between 2009 and today. Prior to founding the Group, Lord Cruddas was chief dealer and global group treasury adviser at S.C.F. Equity Services, where he was responsible for all the activities of a dealing room whose principal activities were trading in futures and options in currencies, precious metals, commodities and spot forwards on foreign exchange and bullion.

Christopher Forbes

Head of Averion Invest (Singapore)

Christopher Forbes is the Head of Averion Invest Singapore and serves on its Board of Directors. Prior to Averion Markets, Christopher was the Head of Trading at the Clermont Group, the family office of billionaire Richard Chandler, where he led the Capital Markets and minority Private Equity Investments portfolios. His past experience includes working within Morgan Stanley's Delta One Trading team in London specialising in ETFs, Sector Futures and Swap Financing across global multi-asset classes, and co-founding his private wealth management venture, Zavian Capital.

Cyndy Soh

Director & Financial Controller, Averion Invest (Singapore)

Cyndy is responsible for the financial activities of the company which includes financial governance, planning, budgeting, forecasting and cash management matters. With more than twenty years of experience in Banking and Capital Markets, during which more than a decade was spent with Averion Markets SG. Cyndy has continually advocated for best practices and a strong financial control environment. Together with her prior banking experiences in the areas of Regulatory Financial Reporting, Internal Audit, Financial Control and Cash Management, Cyndy has considerable experience as an effective Financial Controller.

Matthew Lewis

Non-Executive Director, Averion Invest (Singapore)

Matthew joined the Group in 2005 and has held a variety of roles including Head of Eastern Equities, Head of Sales Trading ANZ, Head of Trading Eastern Region and Director of Asia. As the current Head of Asia Pacific & Canada, he is responsible for implementing the Group's business strategies across APAC and Canada for both the retail and wholesale CFD and foreign exchange business. Prior to joining the Group, Matthew worked for Commonwealth Securities dealing in equities, before moving into derivatives as an options trader and warrants representative.
